THE PRIDE WELCOMES two new recruits in the San Beda Red Lions following the departure of a pair of key players who pursued alternative routes in their basketball career.
The San Beda Red Lions enlisted two newcomers who emerged from different universities to enhance the chances of winning in their upcoming competitions.
Among the recruits are players from the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Bryan Sajonia, who transferred from Far Eastern University (FEU), along with Bismarck Lina who bid farewell to the University of the Philippines (UP).
Given the chance to gain personal development, Lina relocated to Mendiola followed by Sajonia the day after. It is expected for the new recruits to join the San Beda Red Lions roster in the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Season 100 after a one-year residency.
Being the prospective athlete for the team, Lina was a former member of UAAP Season 82 boys’ basketball tournament’s Mythical Five and a former player for Batang Gilas back in 2016. On the other hand, Sajonia played a pivotal role for FEU during the NCAA Season 85 with 11.17 points per game, like Tony Ynot’s game performance.
In relation to the new recruits, two former game makers and proud Red Lions left the den after their Season 98 journey with the Mendiola squad. It is reported that Ynot left the Lion’s den alongside Justin Sanchez during the month of February with the pair coming from the Red Cubs program. Despite the long thought on whether to leave San Beda, the two former Red Lion members are bound to shift across a different team in De La Salle College of Saint Benilde (CSB) Blazers. The CSB Blazers are the ones whom the Red Lions toughly faced during the semi-finals round of the last NCAA season.
Same as to any other recruits for the time being, neither Ynot nor Sanchez will have to forgo the NCAA Season 99 prior to being qualified to play for the CBS Blazers because of the need for a year of residency with the Blazers. Furthermore, it is said that the two made their CSB debuts in the 2023 Pinoy Liga Collegiate Cup.
