THE SAN BEDA Red Lions exit the Pinoyliga court after yielding to the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons last June at the Activate Hoop Arena.
After a successful defense in the Pinoyliga, Next Man Up Cup, with Team B hailed as champions, the Mendiola-based squad failed to keep its winning streak after failing to advance to the final four.
Beforehand, the team defeated the UP Fighting Maroons with an 84-81 lead in a do-or-die game in Elite Eight courtesy of former Fighting Maroon, RC Calimag who garnered 41 points.
In advantage to advance to the final four, the win came to an end as the Fighting Maroons handed the Red Lions a loss to move to the final four, 92-76 respectively.
Bryan Sajonia and Emman Tagle garnered 18 points whilst Calimag got 13 points.
It was a hard-fought season for the team as they left the court with 3 wins and 4 losses in the Collegiate Cup.
Nonetheless, Sajonia was awarded The Best Newcomer along with being part of the season’s Mythical Five.
