IT WAS ANOTHER busy month for the San Beda Junior Marketing Association (SBJMA) as they hold eight activities throughout May and June for the Marketing and Management students of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS).
Market Crossing
In collaboration with the Community Engagement Center (CEC), the first-year Bedan Marketers showcased their marketing plans of sustainability with the theme, “Market Crossing: Strengthening Ties With Communities Through a Sustainable Marketing Plan.”
As a final requirement of one of their subjects, the first-year marketing students were required to defend their marketing plans, set up booths, and fully furnish their promotions for the whole SBJMA community to visit and see.
With the sustainability vision, each market plan was judged accordingly by Dr. Antonio Arturo Manahan, CPME, Dr. Jenny De Guia, and Professor Philip Cheng, MBA last June 27 at Lydia Tan Sy Building Grounds.
These market plans aim to instill ideas and knowledge on community-based set-up businesses to empower and strengthen ties with each of their partnered communities by illustrating effective promotional strategies and effective market plans.
MARK-IT: Marketing Research Advocacy Gala
SBJMA hosted Mark-it: Marketing Research Advocacy Gala, an engaging event held last June 26 at the Pamanang Bedista, Sabater’s Garden.
Esteemed stakeholders and partners, such as the Philippine Junior Marketing Association (PJMA), Marketing and Opinion Research Society of the Philippines (MORES), Philippine Marketing Association (PMA), Philippine Association of Marketing Research Educators (PAMRE) were warmly welcomed.
Distinguished guest speakers, Dr. Mohd Raziff Jamaluddin from Malaysia’s Universiti Teknologi Majlis Teknologi Amanah (MARA), Ms. Ruthrimea Ramos-Ferriol, Managing Director of Advancing Research Consulting Inc., and Ms. Gina Rose Ariston, President of MORES and Corporate Strategy & Business Development Director at Globe Telecom, shared their empowering insights on the field.
The gala, broadcasted live on the SBJMA Facebook Page, featured how the Bedan community eagerly embraced the advocacy of advancing the field of marketing research, as they delved into the field’s latest trends and developments, emphasizing the vast potential and contribution of the industry to the world.
DRMEET 2023: Streaming the Ultramodern World of Retail Distribution and Management
SBJMA and MedEthix conducted this two-part hybrid final academic activity for the third-year Bedan Marketers at the Abbot Lopez Hall and their official Facebook page on June 14. The conference focused on the latest trends, strategies, and technologies in the distribution and retail management industry.”
The morning session focused on speakers such as Dr. Ricardo J. Opido discussing the “front and back doors of both distribution and retail management,” as per SBJMA’s Facebook post.
On the other hand, the afternoon session revolved around highlighting the ideas of Bedan Marketers regarding distribution and management through the presentation of the top 8 groups’ management plans for MedEthix’s Fast Aid from the industry.
Lokalista Ako
To empower local business owners by raising awareness, SBJMA together with the CEC, held “Lokalista Ako: Fostering Philippine Brand Advocacies through Multicultural Marketing,” a two-day event from June 8 to June 10.
The morning session for June 8 featured Professor Zernan De Ramos and Mr. Theodore Cacayan, Business Development and Operations Manager of Caravan Food Group Inc. Bedans were able to participate by visiting the Jonathan Sy Auditorium or watching the live stream in SBJMA’s official Facebook page.
While the afternoon session, from June 8 to June 10, in the Lydia Tan Building Grounds, highlights different local brands such as Craftcha, an advocacy brand that produces handcrafted and upcycled garments, and Baguio Lokal (BGLK), which produces customized and traditionally woven fabrics that promote the culture of traditional weavings.
MMFF 2023
With the initiative to highlight the creativity of Second-Year Bedan Marketers and showcase the variety of Filipino cuisines, SBJMA conducted an activity called “Marketing Management Food Festival (MMFF) 2023: Filipino Cuisine Reimagined!” at the Lydia Tan Sy. Grounds, last June 7.
SBJMA invited Mr. Eric Jan Buenaflor, MBA, Managing Partner of Dairy by Karabella Corp as their guest speaker and Chef Danilo P. Bustillos II; Mr. Jojo M. Villamin, CHP, CPME, CGSP, MSP; and Mr. Leofel Vargas Vergara, MBA, MPA to judge and critique the creativity of the second-years.
SBJMA also created an online contest called “Tingin Palang Ulam” where “Marketing students will be tested on their knowledge of Filipino food by guessing zoomed-in pictures” as posted on their official Facebook page. Five winners will receive Gcash prizes in the said activity.
MadWorld 2023: Playing the New Spot
SBJMA recently participated in the “Marketing and Advertising World” (MadWorld), the largest junior marketing convention in the Philippines. Organized by the PJMA, the event was held at The SM Mall of Asia Arena on June 3.
With the theme “MadWorld 2023: Playing the New Spot”, the event provided a platform for learning and networking in the marketing and advertising industry.
With renowned content creator, Ayn Bernos, as host, the event featured a convention discussing the dynamic changes in the marketing field and a panel discussion on leveraging social media for advertising.
Adobo Magazine’s Chaz Requiña; Universal Music Group’s Enzo Valdez; Tiktok Philippines’, Joseph Menez; Canva Philippines’ Maisie Littaua; and the Chairman and CEO of Havas Ortega Group Jos Ortega, were some of the notable personalities at the event.
As indicated on the PJMA Facebook page, The objective of the event was “to equip participants with insights into current marketing innovations and gain a competitive advantage.”
PMA MarkEx
Philippine Marketing Association celebrated its 69th year last 25th of May with SBJMA and SBU as their venue partner on a Hybrid setup as PMA upholds its mission of marketing excellence and service to all stakeholders nationwide at the Pamanang Bedista.
This seminar and skills training focused on Leadership, Communication, Branding, and People Management with the theme: Marketing Exchange (MARKEx) for Young Leaders: Level Up Metaverse Marketing!
Four speakers shared their own tips and business ideas. The line-up included Mr.Paulo M. Tibig, CEO of both Paulo Tibig Corporate trainings and VCargo Worldwide, Ms. Therese Ezra Castrojas- Galang, CMO of Airspeed and Global Brand and Communications Manager of LBC Express, Inc., Mr. Raymund Acedera, co-founder of Brandev Insights and Consulting and the Business Unit Head of Logistikus Group, and Ms. Leah Marie Ayeng, the General Manager of the Prestige Quality Paper Products.
Marketingdahan Mananatiling Asensado at Bukas sa Pagbabago
SBJMA, in collaboration with the CEC, conducted the Marketing-Dahan Phase 3. This is a sustainable event that emphasized the Mastery and Mentoring part of the Seven Ways of Uplifting MSMEs.
It served as a tool in changing the mindset of the beneficiaries in acquiring positive entrepreneurial skills and competencies. Carrying on with this sustainable event, the “Marketing-Dahan 2023: Mananatiling Asensado at Bukas sa Pagbabago” took place on May 17, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 5:20 PM via Zoom.
Marketing-Dahan has been an established event organized by SBJMA, and this year marked its Phase 3. To bring a fresh perspective and innovative approaches to the event.
