IN A POWERFUL advocacy for the environment, the arts cluster of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) presented an online documentary called “Laudato Si: Call for taking Care of the Environment” through the Student Council’s (SC) Facebook page, October 4.
The documentary was produced by the professional organizations under the Arts Cluster which include The Republic (TR), Psychology Society of San Beda Univesity (PSSBU), Bedan Information Technology Society (BITS), San Beda English and Literature Society (SBELS), San Beda Economic Society (SBES), and the San Beda Sports Sciences Association (SBSSA).
The President of PSSBU, Marc Kaye Lansang, spoke on the documentary’s relation to the theme of Laudato Si. She stated that the arts cluster was assigned to tackle three eco actions. These eco actions are integrated ecological curriculum and environmental sustainability research, integrated ecological spirituality and transformative lifestyle, and policy advocacy campaigns and solidarity.
She explained how the documentary video of the arts cluster was able to address these eco actions. Kaye stated that, “the video includes short story videos of a natural man and man-made disasters and advocacies and projects for the eco-movement.”
On the overall concept of the documentary, Kaye shared “yung pinaka-short story or film concept is a student envisions potential disasters in the future when he or she decides to throw trash onto one of the plants. After witnessing this future, he or she gains the power to change it and encourages students to join the eco movement.”
The documentary also highlighted previous projects and campaigns of the involved student organizations that revolved around environmental protection.
