IN THE SPIKING world of collegiate volleyball, a new era is on the horizon as Coach Edgar Barroga takes the reins of the San Beda Lady Red Spikers for National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 99. With a career spanning over a decade, Coach Ed brings with him a wealth of experience and a fresh start in the quest to reshape the esteemed team.
Coach Ed’s journey to the Lions’ Den has underscored his dedication and expertise—from coaching the National University (NU) Boys’ volleyball team to leading the Immaculada Conception College (ICC) Blue Hawks. His arrival at one of the premier institutions in the NCAA landscape speaks volumes about his strategic coaching acumen and leadership prowess.
In transitioning to lead the Lady Red Spikers, Coach Ed has spent more time implementing his vision for the team. Recognizing the need for change, he instilled a new culture of discipline and unity among the players, noting, “I saw how the girls in the team seemed lost and had different paths. My focus was on infusing a winning attitude and aligning everyone towards a common goal.”
However, the path to success was not without challenges. Coach Ed also faced initial resistance in reshaping the team’s culture. Undeterred, he persisted, buoyed by unwavering commitment and support from the community. Moreover, the team’s journey received a significant boost with sponsorship from Marinerang Pilipina, propelling them towards their aspirations.
As the Lady Red Spikers gear up for NCAA Season 99, Coach Ed’s leadership promises a new dawn for the team. Embracing change, they are now adopting a fresh system, instilling discipline, as well as an unwavering commitment to excellence.
“Our goal extends beyond the courts,” said Coach Ed. “We aim to redefine the San Beda Lady Red Spikers, embodying the ferocity of a lion and the tenacity of a champion,” he added.
Their participation in various pre-season leagues is a clear testament to their dedication to honing their skills for the challenges ahead. As they prepare to unleash their prowess on the NCAA stage, he has also extended a heartfelt plea to the Bedan community.
“I urge you to rally behind this new breed of Lady Red Spikers, your support fuels our passion and determination. Together, let’s roar as one—Go San Beda Fight,” implored Coach Ed.
As the countdown to NCAA Season 99 Volleyball begins, all eyes are on Coach Ed and the Lady Red Spikers. With determination in their hearts and a burning fire in their souls, they stand poised to script a chapter of triumph and legacy in collegiate volleyball history.
