CONCLUDING THE WEEK-LONG celebration of Integration and Sporstfest 2025, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Student Council (SC) brought the Bedan community together with “Animusika: Tinig ng Pagkakaisa,” a concert featuring various Original Pinoy Music (OPM) acts at the San Beda University (SBU) Football Field, March 22.
The event commenced with Marahuyo’s rendition of Ere, followed by Moongrey’s performance of Magazine. Owl’s Night took the stage with Sandali, while Nevertheless showcased their original composition Paraluyo. Singer-songwriters Leila and Tamara continued the program with their self-written songs Ikaw Na and Magic, respectively.
Afterward, the evening’s highlight came with the arrival of the five-piece alternative OPM band Mayonnaise, who performed their hit song “Jopay.” The momentum carried on as SUD delivered their popular single Baliw, and This Band concluded the night with heartfelt performances of Kahit Ayaw Mo Na and Hindi Na Nga.
“Salamat sa pagkuha sa amin at sa mga kapwa namin artists at sa pagbibigay sa amin ng suporta, sa pag-imbita sa amin sa araw na to, sa Animusika,” Monty Macalino, lead vocalist of Mayonnaise, told The Bedan in an interview.
The concert was organized in response to “student demand,” as highlighted by SC Internal Vice President (IVP) Amir Jordan Hussin. Noting the success of last year’s concert, along with its absence during this year’s Pista ng Sto. Niño, this “motivated” the council to reintegrate the concert into the school’s activities.
“Since eto na ‘yung big last event natin, let’s invest on it. Gawan natin ng paraan para magkaroon ng concert because the students really want to have a concert. So in-incorporate namin siya sa Integration because alam namin na etong students really want to enjoy and have fun… pagsamahin natin lahat ng enjoyment in one day,” said the IVP.
One of the challenges in organizing two events in one day was securing the “necessary budget,” according to SC External Vice President (EVP) Chriselle Tamares, adding how “Very big budget yung kinakailangan namin. So, the Student Council talaga found ways din naman kung paano ba natin siya ipu-push through, and eventually nagawa naman natin ng paraan.” she stated.
Nonetheless, Mari Okol, SC President, emphasized the significance of the concert beyond the performances, stating that the event played a role in building a sense of community within the University.
“Mas nafefeel mo ‘yung family doon. So I guess, in a sense, parang sobrang related talaga siya sa integration. Medyo similar rin yung values na pine-pursue ng both events,” the SC President emphasized.
As the final major event of the incumbent SC before the end of their term, Okol took the opportunity to express gratitude and reflect on their year-long service before the CAS community.
“We would like to kind of thank na lang din for your overwhelming support sa buong Bedan community, sa lahat na naging events, projects, and parang mga activities na na-implement namin,” she expressed.
