SAN BEDA STANDOUTS Yukien Andrada, John Bryan Sajonia, and Daniel Joe Celzo topped the list of Red Lions drafted in the 2025 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Season 50 Rookie Draft held at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Music Hall on September 7.
Andrada became LA Tenorio’s first draft selection as the new head coach of the Magnolia Hotshots, going sixth overall in the first round. He will reunite with former teammate and fellow Bedan Peter Alfaro during the second half of the PBA season.
The 6-foot-5, sweet-shooting big played a pivotal role in the Red Lions’ National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 99 campaign, ending San Beda’s five-year title drought.
In addition, Northport Batang Pier selected Sajonia as the 39th pick, while Celzo was chosen by Philippine Cup finalist TNT Tropang 5G as the 47th overall pick in the fourth round.
All three will begin their professional careers in the PBA after completing their collegiate stint with San Beda in the 101st Season of the NCAA on October 1.
Winston Ynot, who played two seasons with the Mendiola squad before transferring to the Benilde Blazers, joins the Converge FiberXers as the 32nd overall pick.
Meanwhile, Joshua Tagala, who came off the bench for San Beda in Season 100, went undrafted, joining fellow Bedan Alfred Sedillo, who plays for the MPBL’s Manila Batang Quiapo.
Former Red Lions reserve guard Gab Cometa also went undrafted in this year’s lottery.
Ateneo product Geo Chiu was this year’s first overall pick by the Terrafirma Dyip. Juan Gomez de Liaño and Dalph Panopio were selected second and third overall by Converge and Blackwater Bossing, respectively.
77 prospects were selected from the pool of 122 hopefuls looking to take their talents in the PBA’s golden 50th anniversary. This edition also marks the largest number of applicants in PBA history since the league implemented the draft system in 1985.
The PBA will kick off its 50th season on October 5, 2025.
