THE NATIONAL COLLEGIATE Athletic Association (NCAA) officially opened the Season 101 Volleyball Tournament on January 23 at the San Andres Sports Complex, signaling the start of the league’s men’s and women’s volleyball competitions.

Athletes, coaches, and officials from the NCAA’s 10 member schools gathered for the opening ceremony—emphasizing sportsmanship, discipline, and competitive integrity. Teams paraded in their respective school colors ahead of the ceremonial opening, formally launching tournament play.

An athlete’s pledge was delivered during the ceremony, committing all participants to play in accordance with the rules and regulations of the league, to abide by the calls of the officials, and to uphold the integrity of the tournament throughout the season.

Adding to the festivities, guest artist Thea Astley performed during the program, providing entertainment as the league ushered in another volleyball season.

Looking to start strong in the group stage, the San Beda Red Spikers face the LPU Pirates tomorrow, January 24, at the San Andres Sports Complex, with the women’s team set to play at 2:00 p.m., followed by the men’s team at 4:00 p.m.
