THE SAN BEDA University Lady Red Spikers maintained their perfect start in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 101 women’s volleyball, overpowering the Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) Lady Generals in a dominant 25-19, 25-19, 25-21 sweep on January 28 at the San Andres Sports Complex.

San Beda wasted no time asserting themselves, holding firm against EAC’s early resistance and steadily pulling away through disciplined execution on both ends of the floor. Despite the Lady Generals’ attempts to disrupt the flow, the Lady Red Spikers remained calm and focused, guided by a clear game plan.

“Yung mindset lang po talaga namin is one game at a time,” team captain Angel Habacon shared, emphasizing the squad’s focus on execution over scoreboard pressure.

The Lady Red Spikers controlled the first two sets with patience, building separation midway before closing both frames with authority. EAC tried to mount a comeback with short scoring runs, but San Beda consistently answered with timely stops and clean transitions. Momentum carried into the third set, yet the Lady Red Spikers refused to be rattled, closing out the sweep through collective composure.

That steadiness was a point of pride for the team, particularly during chaotic stretches on the court.

“Siguro po naging proud po ako sa sarili ko, sa composure ko po. Pag chaotic na po ang lahat… siguro doon po ako mag-lead na let’s breathe,” Habacon said, highlighting her role in keeping the squad focused.

The win marked San Beda’s second straight victory of the season and served as a confidence booster for the squad. This second win is such a confidence booster po talaga na we’re gaining momentum po talaga throughout the season,” she added, emphasizing the importance of sustaining that rhythm.

Even with the sweep secured, the Lady Red Spikers remain grounded, acknowledging areas for improvement, particularly in in-game adjustments and court maturity. “Siguro ang pag-improve po namin is the adjustments po and maturity inside the court,” the captain said.

With momentum building, San Beda also called on the Bedan faithful to continue supporting the team. “Nagiging pride rin po namin yun na marami pong nagsu-support na Bedans sa amin,” she said, expressing hope that fan support would remain strong throughout the season.

As NCAA Season 101 progresses, San Beda aims to build on this momentum, refine their in-game adjustments, and continue asserting themselves as one of the tournament’s most formidable squads.

The Lady Red Spikers return to action on January 31 as they face the Arellano University (AU) Lady Chiefs in their third game at the same venue.
