PERCEIVE BEYOND EVERYTHING. In a state where a definite majority falls into the pit of apathy, danger arises in how the future would be molded by the lack of will to endeavor for the ever-disheartening but all-so-endearing Philippines, as one of the kin from the keen catalyst of the rooting dismay, Vice President Sara Duterte, asked a question she should have known, being the second-highest official in the land, which continues to be endangered by the lack of such knowing.
In the growing threats circling around every Filipino’s lived reality, the advanced variant of apathy is what appears to be the most concerning—a kind which does not halt at stopping the exertion of well-regarded solidarity, but one that perseveres in moving within lived reality with little to no compassion.
The status of its criticality is substantiated by the fact of how every corner of our digital spaces has turned witness to this dangerous apathy, showing a surge in the rise of the macho bravado Duterte signature, as Filipinos come to an unfortunate situation where they clash and are divided, conditioned into antagonizing everything that is beyond the minds they have long closed.
In the never-ending social ills that accumulate as an arrow that pierces through our nation, widening its cracks, it is demoralizing how apathy accelerates these cracks into a breakdown—and how such apathy has long been normalized and shrugged off.
The interminable tyranny of the People’s Republic of China as they belittle our sovereignty and identity as the Filipino people, the lack of education and the will to chase it compound themselves to the propaganda that comes with such tyranny. The faulty narratives from these oppressors that claim our very land stand strong in the weakness of national awareness and involvement in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) dispute.
With the rising distortions of the nature of the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act (JJWA), perpetuating an impression that it promotes criminality, the absence of understanding of the spirit of the law and its measures of accountability poses a danger that greatly influences how we perceive through the eyes of our very future—our children.
These are just a portion of the far-reaching manifestations of the prevailing ills we are now confronted with as we enter the repercussions of the variants of enduring apathy. To top it all, the current discourse on the Pax Silica initiative cements the present and subsisting risk of the lack of will to sympathize with pressing national concerns.
No justifications, such as how tiring it is to love the Philippines, may be thought of that can erase how hideous thriving apathy is amongst the people expected to move within the world in consideration of one another. Oftentimes, it is not about the total lack of knowledge but the lack of heart to discern the weight of having the will to take part in nurturing and championing what is right.
May a much-needed awakening be brought upon each heart, filling it with valor, which will then tear down and flatten the mounting ills that exploit our society.
Let all be enlightened on the importance of the passion to be one with everything that affects the totality. Fox Sili—Fox Silic? May that question never be asked again, most especially by a public servant, for it should not be asked by someone who aptly carries out their inherent civic duty.
