IN DOMINANT FASHION, the San Beda Red Jins decimated their competition by winning the chip for seniors’ Men’s and Women’s Division, as well as the juniors. After three years of online tourneys, they were once again crowned as National College Athletics Association (NCAA) Season 99’s overall champions.

NCAA Season 99 saw the Red Jins back in action at Ayala Malls Manila Bay from the November 15 and 17, 2023 after last season’s online tournament. It was a breath of fresh air to see the players fight head on, departing from last season’s taekwondo routine as a scoring measure for Season 98.

Each member of the Red Jins from the junior boy’s, Women’s, and Men’s division fought hard. Rightfully, the Red Jins came out on top to be declared as the overall champions for Season 99. 

As overall champions, all the Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards for each division were awarded to SBU. Katrina Mariano was proclaimed as the MVP for the Women’s Division, Jaybe Bermudez for the Men’s Division MVP, and Von Saño for the  Junior Boy’s Division MVP.

Women’s division Rookie of the Year, Ysshabelle Blanco and junior boy’s division Rookie of the Year, Ace Perez, all came from the Red Jins – a true testament to the excellent taekwondo program of San Beda University.

Coach Jason Locsin, Coach Abram Cuvinar, and Coach Erick Bunda, deservingly won the Coach of the Year award under their respective divisions. “Alongside them, the triumphant San Beda Red Jins benefited from the guidance of former head coach, Coach Noel Veneracion, and current head coach, Coach Jun Rosquillo, all of whom contributed significantly to the team’s success,” said San Beda Taekwondo.

An achievement for the Red Jins, surmounting countless tough and grueling challenges deserves all the praise and recognition as NCAA’s Season 99 Taekwondo Champion.
