EMBODYING THE THEME “Sa Dapit-Hapon,” the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) graduating Class of 2024, celebrated their Graduation Ball at the Glass Garden, Pasig City, last July 4.

Highlighting “Dapit-Hapon,” Arvin John Camarino, a member of the logistics committee for the graduation ball, explained how “[the theme fits] since it symbolizes the end of a chapter for our collegiate life,” describing the thought behind the theme of this year’s ball as an analogy of transitioning to conquer life outside of college.

Dressed in contemporary Filipiñana fashion, the graduating Class of 2024 boasted their best outfits on the dance floor. The top five of which were chosen for special awards ranging from the Prominent Suit Award, Prominent Gown Award, Prince of the Night, Princess of the Night, King of the Night 2024, and Queen of the Night 2024.

“The main highlight was definitely seeing my batchmates wearing Filipiñana-themed outfits in a formal and special event,” mentioned Camarino, expressing that it was the only opportunity for a ball since the pandemic. Moreover, the graduation ball was organized by a committee headed by former Fourth Year Batch Representative, Mikaela Dimapilis.

Following this, an audio-visual presentation, entitled “Balik Tanaw” was showcased featuring memories of the different CAS blocks they garnered throughout the school year. In addition to that, a cotillion performance, games & song performances, as well as special performances from guest performers, DJ Franco and Alex Nopia, transpired.

When asked about what impression the ball sought to leave for the graduating class of 2024, Camarino told The Bedan that “[The graduation ball is meant] to remind people that it’s totally fine to unwind for a bit. Graduating is an important milestone in our lives, before we do that it would be nice for us to get wild and party with our batchmates.”

Further highlighting the relationships built throughout University life, he emphasized, “We would never know if that’ll be the last time we’ll be together or even part at all. Tomorrow is never promised so it’s best to take every opportunity to be with the people you care about.”
