THE SAN BEDA Red Paddlers commenced their National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 100 Table Tennis Tournament campaign with decisive 3-0 victories over Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) in both the Men’s and Women’s division earlier today, November 12, at the MVP Gym.
Picking up where they left off, the Red Paddlers continued their hunt for a championship this centennial season after finishing silver last Season 99.
SBU vs LPU (Men’s)
In the Men’s team-tie, Matt Ramos, Earl Tolentino, and the pairing of Prince Tano and Kerby Adasa, delivered strong performances to power the Mendiola-based squad to their maiden win.
Setting the tone for domination, ace Ramos overwhelmed LPU’s Villanueva in straight sets, 11-2, 11-6, 11-4, to put the Paddlers ahead at 1-0.
Meanwhile, Team Captain Tolentino then sustained the Red Paddlers’ onslaught, defeating Montalla of LPU in the second singles match, 11-3, 11-5, 11-5.
Finally, the pairing of Tano and Adasa delivered the final blow, conquering Samirian and De Leon with a swift 11-3, 11-1, 11-5 victory, to obtain the 3-0 win over the hapless LPU.
SBU vs LPU (Women’s)
It was the same script for the Women’s team-tie as Danaia Reblora, Nicole Gaspar, and the duo of Jaylyn Valencia and Novy Mae Digamon handed another sweep to the Intramuros-based squad, 3-0.

Up-and-coming rookie Reblora led the charge in the first singles, breezing past Jacinto, 11-3, 11-3, 11-5, to put the Women’s team ahead at 1-0.
An established rhythm from the Mendiola-based squad left LPU scrambling as Nicole Gaspar trounced Juan, 11-2, 11-4, 11-5, to put them at a 2-0 advantage.
Team Captain Valencia and Digamon closed out the match against Macaraeg and Ginapos in dominant fashion, 11-2, 11-1, 11-2, to complete the 3-0 sweep.
The Men’s team will continue their league against Mapúa University (MU) and Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC), while the Women’s team face off against EAC and Jose Rizal University (JRU) tomorrow, November 13, at the same venue.
