SOMEWHERE BETWEEN THE excitement of finally becoming a Bedan and the uncertainty of choosing a degree program lies one of the first defining moments of university life. An enrollment form may appear routine, but for an incoming freshman, every course code represents more than an academic choice; it marks the beginning of an identity still waiting to be discovered.
For the Class of 2030, San Beda University (SBU) opens its full range of undergraduate programs across two academic homes: eleven programs under the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and ten under the newly inaugurated College of Accountancy and Business (CAB).
Behind these Red Walls are not just course codes and classrooms, but communities waiting to be built, ambitions waiting to be tested, and friendships yet to be formed. What is printed in a prospectus as a program title becomes, in time, the place where a freshman first learns who they actually are.
Where curiosity meets a curriculum
For decades, CAS has stood as the University’s home for students whose interests stretch across the humanities, sciences, technology, and public service. It is a college defined not by a single discipline but by the diversity of questions its students choose to pursue.
Its Arts and Social Sciences cluster brings together English, Literature, and Political Science, programs that challenge students to engage with language, history, governance, and culture. Whether through literary criticism, political discourse, or the study of society, these disciplines encourage students to understand not only what people believe, but why they believe it.
The Science and Technology cluster reflects another kind of curiosity. Computer Science, Information Systems, and Information Technology prepare students for an increasingly digital world where innovation shapes everyday life. Economics and Public Policy examines the systems influencing communities and governments, while Environmental Science confronts the realities of sustainability and environmental stewardship.
Human Biology and Psychology approach the human experience from different perspectives: one through the intricacies of the body, the other through the complexities of the mind. Meanwhile, Exercise and Sports Sciences, majoring in Fitness and Sports Management, transforms athletic discipline into professional expertise in health, recreation, and sports development.
Although these eleven programs differ in focus, they share a common thread: each begins with curiosity. Every lecture, laboratory, discussion, and fieldwork experience becomes another opportunity to understand the world with greater clarity and compassion.
The Business of Learning
This academic year also marks a milestone in the University’s academic landscape with the inauguration of CAB. Formerly organized as a department within CAS, CAB now stands as an independent college, reflecting the University’s continuing commitment to strengthening accountancy and business education. While its institutional identity is only beginning to take shape, its classrooms are already filled with the first generation of students who will define what it means to belong to the college.
Its Accounting cluster—Accountancy, Accounting Information Systems, Internal Auditing, and Management Accounting—grounds students in analytical thinking, financial accountability, and ethical decision-making. Precision and discipline remain central values, preparing graduates for professions where trust and responsibility carry equal weight.
Alongside these are the Business Administration majors in Human Resource Management, Operations Management, Financial Management, and Marketing Management, each responding to the evolving demands of organizations and industries. Entrepreneurship encourages innovation by empowering students to transform ideas into ventures, while Legal Management bridges business education with the complexities of legal frameworks.
Every institution carries traditions that have been passed down over generations. CAB, however, begins from a different place. Its first freshmen are not simply entering a new college; they are helping define its identity. The organizations they establish, the events they celebrate, and the achievements they accomplish will become the foundation upon which future Bedans will build.
The road is yours to choose
There is no single path that defines a Bedan experience. Among these twenty-one programs are twenty-one different ways of learning, serving, and growing. Each shaped by its own discipline while remaining united by the University’s commitment to forming competent professionals and principled individuals.
Every freshman arrives with an unfinished story. Some begin with certainty, others with hesitation. Some will discover that the program they chose is exactly where they belong; others will find that growth sometimes means changing direction. Neither journey diminishes the value of the first step.
Whether in the classrooms of CAS or the newly established CAB, every door opens to a community that will challenge students to think more deeply, work more diligently, and discover more about themselves. In the end, a degree program is only where the journey begins. What gives it meaning is what the student becomes after walking through its doors.
