IN AN EFFORT to “foster relationships” among the various members of the marketing community and organizations, the San Beda Junior Marketing Association (SBJMA), in conjunction with partner organizations and universities across the nation, has organized a forum for the various institutions to present their most exemplary papers in the field of marketing last November 25.
Students majoring in marketing had the opportunity to witness the launch of a newly-established organization called the Philippine Association of Marketing Educators Inc. (PAMRE), which will further foster better relations among all marketing majors and members working in the field of marketing in the county.
The event was established to “teach students a deep appreciation for marketing research and show them how to use its principles in real life,” “improve students’ consistent creative thinking for coming up with solutions that can make a big difference in certain industries,” “effectively deal with and have thoughtful discussions about the current problems the market is facing,” and “incorporate the Benedictine hallmarks and values,” as well as “to further solidify their dedication to personal development and serving the Bedan community.”
Going behind the scenes, an entire month and a half was spent on the preparations for this event following a series event postings althroughout. Third-year students from various blocks within the Department of Marketing Management organized the event.
Various individuals participated in the event, such as the San Beda Junior Marketing Association (SBJMA) officers, MARCast 2023 v.2 committee heads and organizing team, third-year Bedan Marketing students, faculty members, guest speakers, the panel of speakers, PAMRE officers, and attendees from partner schools and Universities, particularly the University of Baguio (UB), the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU), Far Eastern University (FEU), Angeles University Foundation (AUF), St. Vincent’s College Incorporated (SVCI), and St. Paul University (SPU) who also collaborated in making the event possible.
In addition, the Far Eastern University (FEU) Cavite, Jose Rizal Memorial State University JRMSU), University of Mindanao (UM), Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP)-San Juan City, iACADEMY, Colegio de San Juan de Letran (CSJL), Capiz State University (CAPSU), Palawan State University (PSU), and St. Scholastica’s College (SSC) have all contributed to the preparations for the event and have been the primary participants in the event.
Jan Salvador, the activity chairperson, said the highlight of the event was seeing her batchmates working together with consistency on their duties for the organization’s first Hyflex and off-campus events. She also emphasized that “the speakers taught us a lot about marketing research, and we enjoyed watching our classmates present and defend their white papers to our esteemed judges and notable participants of the event.”
Dr. Antonio M. Lopez, DBA, MBA, the co-chair of the Technical Committee for Business Administration, Entrepreneurship and Office Administration of CHED served as keynote speaker of the event while Ms. Gina Rose Ariston, the president of Market and Opinion Research Society of the Philippines (MORES) was a guest speaker.
A roundtable discussion was held along with the panel speakers Mr. Ralph Rosal, President & CEO, RLR Research & Analysis, Mr. Milton Mendiola, Head of the Head, IPSOS Digital, IPSOS Ph., and Ms. Riva Galveztan, Founder, Greenlight Market Research.
Followed by this was a series of white paper presentations by marketing students such as the following: (a) A.I.nnovate: Enhanced Education through the power of Artific; (b) Beyond Rainbows: Building Authentic LGBTQIA+ Inclusion; (c) Fount AI Robot Generator; (d) A.I.D.: Your Artificial Intelligence Detector; (e) Bridge the Coverage Gap: Health Insurance for Construction.
By the end of the event, the A.I.nnovate: Enhanced Education through the power of Artific was awarded for Best Paper which was made by Steven Francisco, Julian Tangso and Rafael Tanteo of 3AMC while Best Presenter was given to Chelsea Dantes, Maurice Lapira and Christopher Lyle De Leon of 3BMC for their “A.I.D.: Your Artificial Intelligence Detector.”
An induction ceremony was also held for the National Executive Members and Board of Directors of PAMRE, with numerous marketing educator coming from different universities across the country. Prof Jojo M. Villamin became president of the organization and Prof. Gregorio Borja III became part of the Board of Directors.
While Salvador added that the team had faced some issues with the schedule of the guest participants and speakers, nonetheless she commended the team of how they were “able to adjust to the changing segments quickly to keep the program going and solve this problem.”
