AIMING TO PERSONIFY the essence of All Souls’ Day, the Psychology Society of San Beda University (PSSBU) presented DASIG, a heartfelt tribute to the cherished memories of departed loved ones, culminated through a sentimental video feature shared on social media last November 15.

Through the video, viewers’ hearts were filled with memories, reminiscing the lasting influence that departed loved ones continue to have in the lives of Bedans.

PSSBU commemorated these sentiment through this year’s “DASIG,” an event designed to collect sincere and unfiltered words by encouraging individuals to share their most honest and heartfelt thoughts anonymously.

In a conversation with PSSBU President Marc Kaye Lansang, she interestingly recapitulates that the inception of “DASIG” found its inspiration in Jubilee’s popular “Seeking Secrets” video, aspiring to create a secure space for Bedans to share their deepest thoughts and emotions without the fear of judgment.

Lansang passionately advocated for this format, sayingg that “anonymous confession spaces provide a unique platform for diverse and important topics to emerge and be addressed within a community.”

She adds that “by removing the barriers of self-identification and potential judgment, anonymous confessions empower individuals to share their innermost thoughts, experiences, and concerns, fostering a more inclusive and empathetic environment for open dialogue.”

Centered on the theme, “Pag-Alala sa Ating mga Minamahal,” Lansang highlighted that “This series of DASIG poses the question, “Ano ang isang payo na iyong isinasabuhay mula sa mahal mong yumao na?”

This query, which aimed to remember significant aspects of individuals’ lives influenced by departed loved ones, powerfully echoed every participant’s will as contemplated in every heartfelt submission that was curated into a video edited by the members of PSSBU’s Multimedia Committee, Danielle Ilagan and John Dave Diaz.

Upon sharing this video across social media, “glimpses of wisdom, heartfelt humor, and invaluable counsel” were put forward, eliciting both tears and smiles from its audience.

Reflecting on some of the submissions received, Lansang recalls one entry that resonated deeply. “Kahit anong mangyari, lagi kang magpapakalakas para sa mga mahal mo sa buhay.”

She intimately imparted that “this entry resonated deeply with me, particularly during the challenging phases of the pandemic. It reminds us that our resilience and strength shine brightest during the darkest of times, that radiates hope for our loved ones.”

Lansang then mentioned that the Bedan community seems to have felt a particularly meaningful connection with this project as the responses have been unexpectedly heartwarming and has cultivated a sense of togetherness and compassion.

Looking ahead, Lansang envisions DASIG as an integral part of PSSBU’s culture, foreseeing its potential as a catalyst for more genuine and diverse discussions among Psychology students and the larger Bedan community.
