AFTER A YEAR of exhibiting competent leadership and advocacy-led engagements, the Office of the Prefect of Student Activities (OPSA) acclaimed the efforts and achievements of the Student Organizational Circle (SOC) during its annual Parangal at Pasasalamat 2025 at the Abbot Lopez Hall on July 2.
Anjo Pertierra, host of GMA’s ‘Unang Hirit’ and weather reporter for GMA Integrated News, served as the presenter of this year’s Parangal.
The event began with the announcement of the top five professional student organizations, which were ranked as follows: San Beda Junior Marketing Association (SBJMA), Junior Bedan Law Circle (JBLC), The Repvblic (TR), San Beda Economics Society (SBES), and Junior Financial Management Association (JFINMA).
Various organizations, both professional and non-professional, were also given rankings for the Best Community Engagement, presented by the San Beda Community Engagement Center, which ranked as follows: SBES, TR, SBJMA, JFINMA, and Bedan Business Spectrum (BBS).
The top 5 non-professional organizations were also awarded respectively, which were the Social Sciences and Humanities Association (SSHA), BBS, San Beda Red Lens, Bedan Musicians’ Guild (BMG), and Bedan Advocacy and Consciousness Enhancement Society (BACES).
Minor awards were given in between the announcement of the student organization rankings, which included Best Religious Activity awarded to the San Beda Chamber Chorale (SBCC) for “Men Concordet Voci: A Workshop of Liturgical Music,” the Best Cultural Activity to SSHA’s “Pamanag Himagsikan: Eksibit ng Kalayaan.”
Meanwhile, SBJMA took home the awards for Most Responsive Activity to the Sustainable Development Goals for “PaperRoar Reduce, Recycle, Reuse and ROAR,” Best Digital Publication Material for The Marketing E-Link, and Best Collaborative Activity (Interschool) for “Beyond the Buzz: From Creative Writing to Technical Publishing.” They were also recognized for having the Best Documentation and OSE Presentation.
The Human Resource Development Management Society (HDRMS) received the Best Laudato Si’ Activity for “Living Laudato Si: Enhancing Waste Management through Proper Segregation.”
The Management and Entrepreneurship Society (MANSOC) won the award for Best Digital Activity for their “Vlogger-Preneur series,” while Psychology Society of San Beda University (PSSBU) won Best Curricular Activity for their “Psychology Week 2025: MaPSYa at Mapayapang Komunidad Tungo sa Panatag na Isip at Kalooban”.
JBLC garnered the awards Best Collaborative Activity (Intra-school) for “Pulsong Bedista” and Best Advocacy-driven Activity for their “Social Justice Center.”
TR received the Best Co-curricular Activity award for “Navigating Tensions: A Round Table on the West Philippine Sea” and was honored with Most Outstanding Activity for “TAYO 2025: A Senatorial Debate.”
For the CAS faculty, Assoc. Prof. Jenny S. De Guia, Asst. Prof. Edilberto B. Viray Jr., Prof. Moses Aaron T. Angeles, and Asst. Prof. Rulina B. Viloria were recognized as Best Moderators in no order, while Atty. Luis Voltaire D. Formilleza was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Asst. Prof. Carissa C. Cabaysa, former The Spires moderator and Assistant Prefect of Student Discipline, received a Plaque of Recognition.
Bedan athletes, such as the San Beda Red Lions, San Beda Red Smashers, San Beda Red Jins and San Beda Red Paddlers, were given recognition after their performances that secured wins during the recently-concluded National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 100.
Moments before its conclusion, the Top Outstanding Students (TOS) from various Departments were announced and delivered their respective speeches, with the award given to exemplary students who “displayed competent leadership and excellence.”
Student-recipients of the award were ranked as follows in an ascending order: Edriane Timothy C. Tabor from the Legal Management department, Enrique Louise Bonete from the Economics department, Lianedrei G. Alabata from Entrepreneurship, Mari Ernestine N. Okol from Psychology, Shawn Kloie S. Lim from Political Science and Lance Christian D. Velandria from Operations Management, both shared the spot for rank 5.5, Mikaela Denise S. Mosteyro from Financial Management, Via Jessica M. Clerigo from Legal Management, and John Robert M. Buenconsejo from Literature and Justin Angelo B. Vinluan from Marketing Management shared the spot for rank 9.5.
Tabor, in his speech, recalled the moments when he would almost give up, highlighting his resilience throughout his collegiate journey.
“But I’ve learned that public service isn’t about being perfect—it’s about being accountable, about getting up after every fall”, he shared.
The newly elected Student Council officers for A.Y. 2025–2026 also took their oath of office, officially marking the beginning of their term.
