RECOGNIZING OUTSTANDING STEWARDSHIP, the then College of Arts and Science (CAS) Office of the Prefect of Student Activities (OPSA), prior to the collegiate split, recognized the University’s top student organizations and outstanding students during the annual Parangal at Pasasalamat 2026, held at the Abbot Lopez Hall on July 9, in the first Parangal following the separation of the College of Accountancy and Business (CAB) and CAS.
The annual awards ceremony brought both colleges together for what is deemed to be their last joint Parangal celebration. It gathered Bedans from CAS and CAB, including students, members of the Student Organizational Circle (SOC), faculty moderators, and administrators, to celebrate the achievements of the Bedan community during the 2025-2026 academic year.
This year’s Parangal also marked a significant milestone for the University, as it was the first awards ceremony held following the collegiate separation.
The joint jubilation is expected to be the last of its kind, with future Parangal ceremonies to be conducted separately as the colleges move forward under their respective administrative structures. The event began with the announcement of the recipient of the minor awards, recognizing outstanding student-led initiatives in religious, cultural, and sustainability activities. Among the recipients were San Beda Red Lens (SBRL), the Psychology Society of San Beda University (PSSBU), the Junior Bedan Law Circle (JBLC), and The Repvblic (TR), respectively.
The evening continued with the awarding of the top non-professional organizations: The Bedan Business Spectrum (BBS) led the ranking, followed by the Bedan Musicians’ Guild (BMG), San Beda Red Lens (SBRL), Bedan Scholars’ Guild (BSG), and the Bedan Advocacy and Consciousness Enhancement Society (BACES).
In addition to recognizing top student organizations, OPSA also honored the outstanding programs and initiatives conducted throughout the academic year. The San Beda Junior Marketing Association (SBJMA) was one of the biggest winners, earning awards for Best Digital Publication Material, Best Laudato Si’ Activity, and Best Organization Selection Evaluation (OSE) Presentation awards.
Meanwhile, other recipients of the major awards included JBLC, BSG, Kapisanang Agham ng San Beda (KASB), SBES, BACES, TR, BBS, and PSSBU.
OPSA likewise recognized Bedan athletes for their performances in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 101, honoring championship-winning teams, including the Red Lions, Red Sea Lions men’s and women’s teams, Red Booters, Red Jins women’s team, Red Smashers women’s team, and the men’s and women’s beach volleyball teams, while also recognizing runners-up and podium finishers across multiple sports.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the recognition of the University’s Top Outstanding Students (TOS), honoring graduating Bedans who demonstrated excellence in academics, leadership, and service.
The recipients of the award from CAS are listed below in the order announced: Lee D. Saltore, Manilyn R. Arcieto, Angela Jane C. Correa, Ma. Jilliane J. Mayuga, Faisal M. Armano, all from the Department of Political Science, and Jules Alwin R. Macapagal from the Department of Human Biology.

Victoria, both from the Department of Marketing Management, Justin Ann Mae P. Zialcita of the Department of Legal Management, and Samantha Igem J. Sarmiento of the Department of Marketing Management.
For Saltore, the significance of the award lies in the recognition that leadership is rooted in character, stating that “Genuineness should always be your cornerstone. Because all the things that we do, what makes and sets you apart is your own character and your own genuineness and your own advocacy.”
Dela Paz reflected on how the award marked a personal journey of growth for her after transferring from a different institution and pursuing a different program, adding that, “No matter how many times you fall down, you can always have an opportunity to get back up again,” emphasizing the importance of perseverance in achieving goals.
In the faculty category, Dr. Jenny S. De Guia, Dr. Fedeliz S. Tuy, Dr. Moses Aaron T. Angeles, who has taken office as the new CAS Dean, Prof. Edilberto B. Viray Jr., and Prof. Rulina B. Viloria, were given the distinction of Best Moderator. The program also recognized the esteemed faculty members, beginning with retiring educators: Ms. Agustina S. CAB has yet to designate its next set of SC officers.
