THE SAN BEDA Red Lions moved swiftly to address the departure of Janti Miller, securing National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Season 101 Mythical Team member and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Jhuniel Dela Rama from San Sebastian College-Recoletos (SSC-R) just hours after Miller announced his exit on Saturday, January 17.
Red Lions team manager Jude Roque confirmed Dela Rama’s arrival to the Red Lions camp, with the 6-foot-3 forward set to be eligible beginning NCAA Season 103
Dela Rama, formerly of the San Sebastian Stags, emerged as one of the league’s most reliable two-way forwards in recent seasons. He averaged 13.8 points, 11 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game during NCAA Season 101 under former Stags head coach Rob Labagala.
The Ormoc native was a consistent presence on the glass, highlighted by a career-high 23-rebound performance in a victory over Lyceum. He also delivered in crucial moments throughout the season, drilling the game-winning basket against Letran and knocking down key shots in an upset win over Perpetual.
With Dela Rama in the fold, San Beda adds a proven rebounder and defensive anchor as it begins retooling its roster following Miller’s departure, bolstering its frontline ahead of the upcoming NCAA campaigns.
