MARKING A MILESTONE for the College of Accountancy and Business (CAB), the newly-established college conducted its first-ever recognition ceremony to celebrate its top graduates, highlighting its lone Latin Honoree, the 37 students with Academic Distinctions, and one loyalty awardee for their accomplishments at Abbot Lopez Hall last July 28.
Among the CAB Class of 2026, 39 graduating students earned recognition at this year’s convocation. The program proper began with opening remarks by CAB Dean Prof. Jackqui Moreno, DBA, CPA, wherein she congratulated the honorees on their academic achievements and acknowledged the dedication and perseverance that brought them to this milestone.
The awarding proceeded with the chairpersons and moderators of each CAB department taking the stage to recognize the awardees from their respective departments.
The Department of Legal Management proudly recognized Dwyneth Louise M. Deldig for graduating cum laude, the sole and first CAB Latin honoree, and the highest-ranking academic honoree of the graduating class. The Department then proceeded to recognize its 18 other graduates with Academic Distinction.
The Department of Entrepreneurship produced two students with Academic Distinction, alongside the Department of Accountancy, which recognized one Academic Distinction awardee and one Loyalty awardee from Accounting Management, followed by Marketing Management with seven, Financial Management with six, and Human Resource Management with three.
The recipient of the Dean’s award for CAB and Academic Distinction, Denise Diaz, gave the tribute to parents and guardians, a dedicated speech and moment of appreciation for the parents and guardians of the honorees.
“Behind every student is a family quietly cheering us on, praying for us, and believing in us,” Diaz said, highlighting the unwavering support, sacrifices, and unconditional love of families who stood beside the graduates throughout their academic journey.
Concluding the convocation, Deldig delivered the address of gratitude, a response on behalf of the honorees.
In Deldig’s address, she encouraged the graduates to take a moment to reflect on their journey. She reinforced this message by saying, “before this day slips quietly into memory, before the applause fades, before the medals are placed back in their boxes, I hope you take one quiet moment to thank the child who never stopped believing,” emphasizing the importance of appreciating how far they have come in honoring their dreams, as well as the determination that carried them through every challenge faced.
The inaugural recognition ceremony recognizing outstanding CAB graduates was conducted two days prior to the college’s first-ever participation in the University’s Institutional Commencement Exercises 2026 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) on July 30.
