SAN BEDA UNIVERSITY’s (SBU) Information and Communications Technology Center (ICTC) officially unveiled its newly constructed digital online multimedia studio, the San Beda Media Digital Online Media (DOM) Studio located at eighth floor of the Lydia Tan Sy Building, following its inaugural blessing last January 24 to coincide with the festivities of the Pista ng Sto. Niño sa San Beda 2025.

In an interview with The Bedan, Mr. Joel Filamor, the Head of the Information Technology (IT) Communications Office, stated, “This facility will enable the production of various multimedia materials: number one as I have said in aid of instruction; number two, in aid of strategic communication, marketing, and promoting the advocacies of San Beda University for good public relations.”

When asked about the overall purpose of the University’s DOM Studio, Mr. Filamor explained, “Maybe this is the first time you’ll be hearing this, but your beloved San Beda University is geared towards becoming an international and digital University — that is the 10-year direction of San Beda University.”

“As part of the digitalization process of San Beda, we are trying to make a very comprehensive approach in terms of leveraging technology for various purposes. In the context of the DOM Studio, this is one of the strategies of being a digital University,” he added.

Mr. Filamor shared that the initial conceptualization of the DOM Studio started during the pandemic with full support of the administrators.

The first version of the Studio was built at the University’s Rizal campus, while the Manila DOM Studio project began in November of 2024 and was completed in January of 2025. With the guidance of professional external consultants involved in developing facilities such as the DOM Studio, the ICTC ensured that the Bedan community has access to a “state-of-the-art facility that meets the multimedia needs of the student body and teaching personnel.”

“San Beda’s commitment to excellence as part of its service to students, administrators, faculty, and personnel would demonstrate that San Beda wouldn’t settle for anything less. San Beda would push for what it could afford so it could give the best for its students and its stakeholders,” added Mr. Filamor.

Since its opening, the DOM Studio has hosted projects such as the Mr. and Ms. Senior High School 2025, and the University’s first mass live stream. As for the future projects of the studio, this would include marketing videos for the University’s existing colleges, and a Bar Exam Review spearheaded by the College of Law (COL).

Nonetheless, the DOM Studio is now open to all projects that are deemed “legitimate and within the rules and regulations of the Studio” by the IT Communications Office. Request forms for use of the studio are available at said office, with the use and control of the available equipment handled by authorized personnel as per studio policy.
